All Stitched Up

I am by no means a sewer, in fact the only thing I have sewed in the last 20 years is a teddy bear, so I am quite pleased with my completed stocking!

I just love Stampin’ Up!s new fabric range.  The pattern for this stocking comes with the Deck the Halls Fabric Pack.  It was so simple & is even fully lined.  I do need to put one more brad on the band at the top as I ran out.  I did change a couple of things from the original pattern.  I layered Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon under the Victoria Lace Crochet Trim

For the heal & toe of the stocking, The 2 different fabrics are cut out on the Big Shot using the Top Note Die.  I thought I might have a bit of trouble sewing around those edges so before I cut them out, I ironed some of the Big Shot Adhesive Roll onto the back of each piece of fabric & then ironed them onto the stocking.  I must say the adhesive roll is fantastic!  It sticks way better than any other ones I have tried & certainly makes crafting easier.

Now I just have to hope that Santa has lots of goodies to fill it up for me!

Now, you may be thinking, very nice, but what do I do with it for the rest of the year?  The answer is use your imagination.  I had a little play last night & came up with the following cards.

P1010726

This was my first attempt using the Build-a-Stocking set to make a baby card.  I thought the booties looked a bit long so I have shortened them for the baby boy card.

P1010727

Now for a bit more fun – I love punch art & I had seen a few cards where the stocking punch has been used to use a hobby horse.  I haven’t tried that yet, but here is what I came up with last night.

Off to play again now.

Vintage Natures Walk

Stampin’ Up! has some fantastic products if you like the Vintage look that is very popular at the moment. The Natures Walk stamp Set & Botanical Gazette DSP are just perfect for this look.  I think I have nearly worn this stamp set out, I just love its versatility.

P1010425

I’m not sure how well the detail shows in these photos, but I have used Champaign Mist Shimmer Paint over the eggs & the bees wings to add some subtle bling.

P1010428

This one is slightly outside my comfort zone as I don’t use blue a lot.

The last card is a sympathy card that I made for my dear friend Jane who last her Father recently.

Sweet & Sour

I am a terrible hoarder of Designer Series Paper (DSP).  It is just so pretty I don’t want to cut it up!  I set myself a goal this week to cut into my stash, so here goes.

The following 2 cards feature the Sweet & Sour Specialty Paper which I just love.  It features Pumpkin Pie & Rose Red  making a dynamic colour combination.  I also has gloss detailing on one side.

For this first card I have used the Birthday Bakery Hostess Stamp Set.  You will also notice 2 new fantastic products from the Autumn-Winter Mini.

The wide pink wave was cut out using the new Tasteful Trim Die.  This die gives you 4 different trim styles that will fit perfectly on a 12x12” Scrapbook page or you can shorten them to use on cards. Not only that but as you can cut fabric with these dies, you can make your own rik-rac etc.

The orange bobbles are our new Pom Pom trim which I have attached with our new Multi-Purpose Adhesive Sheets – so easy, just press the trim onto the adhesive sheet, pull it up & you are ready to attach it where you want!

P1010427

The second card is one I was going to teach my Stamp Club except I had a few complications (mainly because I don’t know how to use a ruler Smile) so I might leave it for a while until I have perfected it!

The stamp set I have used for this card is Cottage Garden &  I have used stick on Pearls to highlight the flowers & butterfly.

Inset Technique

I’m not sure that this is the correct name for this technique, but it makes sense to me Smile.  This technique is so simple, yet it turns a basic card into a WOW!  All you do is glue whatever shapes you choose onto your card & run it through the Big Shot using my new favourite Embossing folder, the Square Lattice.  I love how this folder adds extra dimension & texture to your projects.

This first card is my first attempt at “quilting” with paper.  A fantastic way to use up left-overs!  I have used Baja Breeze card stock & Elegant Soiree DSP.  I’ve added Chantilly Lace & Antique Brad & Pearl to enhance the vintage look of the card.

P1010413

This is a card I made for my Up-line Julia Leece’s birthday.  It uses the same technique as above but I have used our awesome new Create a Cupcake stamp set & the Build a Cupcake Punch.  Got to love this punch, no more cutting out fiddly bits!

P1010394

The colour combination is Concord Crush & Pear Pizzazz from our current in-colours & I have use Crystal Effects on the cherries to give them more dimension.

This last card is what my Stamp Club will be making this week, although they will have a colour choice!  I actually cased this idea off Lisa Bullock who is a very clever member of our team.

P1010422

This is such a yummy colour combination – Mariner Mist, Rich Razzelberry, Blushing Bride & Perfect Plum.  Below is what it looks like when you open the card.

That’s all for today folks, so until next time

French Foliage

I just love the new French Foliage set.  You can do so much with it.  Not only does it have beautiful Autumn leaves, but it also has a French Script background stamp with it.  Priced at just $47.95 for wood mount or $37.95 for clear mount it is great value for a 6 piece set as well.

The Cajun Craze card stock works so well with the Autumn theme & I love the rustic look that the Textured Impressions embossing folder from the carry over list gives this card too.  Note the little ladybird on one of the leaves - It is from the Clearly for You set from the new mini.  It is a bit hard to see in the photo, but I covered it in Crystal Effects to give it a 3 dimensional look.

Ruff Ruff

Happy New Year my stamping friends!  2011 is going to be a fantastic year for all of us, I can just feel it in my “inky pinkies”!

It was my nephew’s 9th birthday last week & he is quite a Stampin’ Up! addict.  When ever my sister has been to one of my classes, he always wants to see what she has made, so I thought I had better put a bit of effort in create something he hasn’t seen before.  He loves punch art & I happened to come across a really cool puppy dog card made by Monika Davis.  Please go & look at her site for instructions & some fantastic project ideas.

Mine look slightly different to Monika’s as I am not so good at following instructions & of course I had to add more bling!  I made 2 versions, 1 with a Pacific Point background & 1 with a Cherry Cobbler background.
